Review | Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour in “720 Moca”

Hello everyone! I’m finally back after a long time of studying and taking exams, which makes me so happy since I really missed writing and interacting with you guys a lot! I’ve been wanting to write this review for a long time, but I never got around to it until now.

Since I mostly wear nude lipsticks on an everyday basis, I decided to pick up the shade 720 Moca from Rimmel’s Stay Matte Lip Colour collection. This currently retails at € 6.99 on bol.com (Belgium & The Netherlands only!) and you get 5.5 ml of product.

The Rimmel London website‘s claims:

  • Bold color with just one stroke
  • Impressive staying power: kiss-proof, touch-proof and waterproof wear
  • Velvety matte finish

Packaging

There’s honestly not much that I can say about the packaging. It’s pretty small so it doesn’t take up too much space in your makeup bag and I’ve never gone through a whole liquid lipstick so I’m not too bothered by the fact that you only get 5.5 ml of product. The doe foot applicator is quite long, which makes it very easy to apply the product on your lips without having to use a lipliner first.

Smell + consistency

The smell kind of reminds me of those old school pink Hubba Bubba bubblegum cubes that were way too big for a child’s mouth (those good old days..). Anyways, the smell doesn’t bother me too much since it disappears after it has dried down. It goes on a little bit patchy and uneven, so I find myself going over my lips over and over again to get the desirable result. But this does dry down to a velvety matte finish and is kiss- and touch-proof. It feels pretty much like nothing on the lips, which I like a LOT. However, I noticed it started drying out my lips after a couple of hours and it settled in all of those fine lines (which is not a good look, believe me).

Longevity

This lasted quite a long time on my lips if we ignore the fact that it made them look like raisins.. It only started fading after I had some greasy food, which I understand completely so I didn’t mind that. But don’t try to reapply this product after it has settled into those fine lines, because that will just make it worse! At least that’s my experience with it..

720 Moca

Would I recommend this product? Well, I would if you’re looking for an affordable liquid lipstick for a night out or another event that doesn’t require reapplying your lipstick. Also, I would suggest you use some chapstick first otherwise you’ll look like me and we will be raisin-lips buddies! If you’re looking for a nice liquid lipstick that will last all day and that can easily be reapplied, I would pass on this one and get the MUA Velvet Lip Lacquers instead! You can read my review on those here.

Have you tried these liquid lipsticks out yet? Let me know in the comments!

I’ve never heard of these liquid lipsticks, but they look pretty close to a great pinky nude! It’s too bad that it’s drying though, because my lips tend to dry out real fast and start pinching like raisins hehe. Great review as always Ines xx
